I`m looking forward to see how he handles the City `project`.

I wasn`t following Serie A during the years when he was in management there but I remember him as a quality footballer.

No doubt he`ll have a honeymoon period and the likes of Adebayor might shift themselves sufficiently purely to impress the new man and their shocking form of the past couple of months was more down to Mark Hughes than them.
But what will be the making, or breaking, of him is whether he can sort our shambolic defence, not least prevent our penalty area at dead ball situations being like a pinball machine, and also combining the exciting attacking play of the Hughes era with the necessary defensive solidity

Hope he falls flat on his arse.
Fair play to City though they are sure to win one title this year. "Most hated team in England".
Considering the competition  (Manure,Chelski and Leeds ) , thats good going.

Pardon my ignorance, but who or whart is a Roberto Mancini?

Is he anything to that pearl of Gaeldom, Terry, who got hos foot in the door back in the 70`s and allowed an infestation of plastic paddies to pollute the hitherto clear waters of Irish soccer?

For those of you who wont be aware of this, Terry`s specialist subject when playing with the Irish team was our national anthem.

The english top flight is a ticking timebomb..too many clubs are caught up in the frenzie of the tv rights and money.
If ambramvoich left in the morning..chelsea would revert to their 25K type crowds, they wouldnt have the worldwide interest or commerical clout of a liverpool, manutd or arsenal or celtic with their proud histories.
Mancity are another living on inflated and unrealistic means. What happens with the arabs get bored? they are all at it. Even the bastions of the english game, liverpool and utd have sold out to the financing world because the likes of chelsea and city left them with no choice though in liverpools case they got fellas without a nickle to rub between themselves!!
Looking forward to the day real football comes back again. You know, white balls all year round except the orange one in the snow, no more generic grounds with s**ty names...KC stadium etc. The money has destroyed the game. People like COOK at city with no football pedigree or class treating fellas like hughes who gave more to the game than he will ever. Similarly a legend like keegan being treated by lads who know nothing about football. Football is the current must have trophy for these idots with lots of money but no class.

True enough, game is slipping away, diving becoming the norm, do miss a few muddy pitches and hard tackles. I went to Pompey v Liverpool on Saturday and witnessed a set of millionaires perform as if they didn`t give a toss, just happy with the pay. Players to willing to walk out of club at drop   of hat, thanks to bloody agents and greed and managers given the boot on the merest whim, this time behind everyones back.

I`m no fan of any Manu   (ex  )  players, but as a footballer, he was excellent and gave his all both on and off field. Its dissapointing a bunch of suits can treat him in such a fashion, but you get the feeling it was always a poison chalice from the outset and the nature of the game has been spoiled by it`s leaders, media and greed.

Lads,what`s with all the pessimism?

You`d imagine that somehow football was important.

Not since that Shankly gobshíte made his idiotic assertion that it was much more important than life, football has being going down the khazi.

Ironically, had Shankly been talking in a personal sense, he might have had a point.

He simply used this nonsense to field a bunch of genetiaclly modified thugs who used their lax views on the matter of GBH to intimidate other teams.

Unfortunately, at times, successfully.

No, he`s got more hair, for starters
incidentally have you noticed how much Liam Brady looks like Terry these days, albeit with another chin?

don`t tell me you`re an English Meeja `nodding dog`. the kind that says `Johnny Foreigner` treated `our boy` so shabbily, ignoring of course the fact that he spent over £50M on defenders who don`t know how to defend

I always liked Hughes as a player and thought he did a great job at Blackburn which is why I welcomed his appointment, but I think the owners were correct in the timing of the sacking, and the manner.
Sackings, by their nature, have to be swift, decisive and ruthless

Just as an aside, took the 13/2 about Stoke for the Stephens Day game today, think that`s a massive price against a City side that are brutal on set-pieces and are missing their first choice left-back and centre-half. 16/5 the draw also tempting

Stoke will be a real test for Mancini, although I suspect he`ll be working hard on those set pieces. without checking back I suspect a majority of the goals we`ve conceded may have been from the panic arising from dead balls into box.

Very impressed with today`s 2-0 victory over Stoke, although I have to wonder what game Pat Dolan was watching: perhaps he`s taking his brief to be controversial a bit too seriously.

What was most important, apart from the victory, of course, was that Mancini got the tactics right, and that was to drill it in to our full backs that they`re defenders first,...not raiding wingers.

And he clearly got that message across.

Inevitably, which is something Dolan doesn`t seem to have been able to recognise, our midfield and forward players won`t appear as fluid as they have been at times under Hughes, but that will come under time, once they realise that they won`t always have a full-back teammate snapping at their heels looking to interact with him.
As a result, and perhaps realising how mnuch they were going to be under the microscope there were more than a few misplaced passes.

But the key aspect of today`s game was how everybody worked as a team, and how every outfield player recognised their defensive responsibilities.
The champagne football will come in time, once the solid defensive foundation has been nailed down.

I don`t think it was a question of everybody raising their game to impress the new manager. I think it was a case of the right tactics having been employed.

Craig Bellamy was greeted by a standing ovation when he replaced Robinho with 20 minutes left.

Yeah. Lou Macari was criticising Robinho constantly but he`s hardly played this season.
He was clearly rusty.

I`ve read elsewhere that Bellers was being rested for the game against Wolves, due to a dodgy knee

This Dail Mail report confirms that Mancini really is The Man:
I`ve watched both games and he`s gradually knocking our formerly shambolic defence into shape
And thats even missing Lescott and Bridge.

Top Four is no longer just a possible.

Its not a question of `its only Wolves and Stoke`
These were the kind of teams we were drop ping points to under Hughes

City have drop ped a lot of silly points. If they hadnt drop ped them they would be closer to Chelsea. Arsenal are the team that look like dark horses at this moment.

Chelsea will los Kalou, Drogba and Mikel to the African Nations and that has to hit them. Who are the other top 6 teams losing to the African Nations?
