L Kelly should read L Healy.

That is a very very poor Clare Team on paper. That defense would be torn to shreds by any decent attack. The absence of Kilmurry Ibrickane players makes us very ordinary.

wouldn`t say very very poor. saw graham kelly against ucc played very well and others are making debuts so shouldn`t be written off so early. Be positive if 10 or 12 of these players play well and add in the KIB players then later could have a push for promotion, wicklow wont be great. my serious worry is the fitness levels, against ucc the looked like an old junior b team

Wicklow 3 pts to no score ahead after about 15. Clare getting plenty of ball, but very little scoring threat

5pts to 1 now. Lawrence Healy with the Clare point. Hannon has converted a couple of long-range frees for Wicklow, Clare backs will have to be more disciplined.

Half time. Wicklow 0-7 Clare 0-2. David Tubridy adding the second from a close in free. Clare have kicked an amount of possession away around the midfield/half-forward line

Clare playing with the breeze now, but Wicklow get the first two scores of the half. David Tubs replies with a lovely score off his left from about 40 out, follows that with a free off his right from 45, and then Alan Clohessy tacks another on from play. 0-9 to 0-5, signs of improvement.

Tubridy with another free from just inside the 45 off his left this time. He`s just showing off now. Lala Healy adds another from play and then David Russell with a lovely score off his left. 0-9 to 0-8.

Wicklow respond with a soft enough free and another from play. Some of the Clare lads look to be running out of steam but in their first attack in about five minutes a high ball into the square breaks for Gearoid Lynch to poke home a goal. 0-11 to 1-8

Tubridy free puts Clare ahead for the first time after great drive up the field from Gordon Kelly. One minute added left

1-9 to 0-11 win for Clare. Great start for the new regime and probably a deserved win on the overall balance of play.

Best 2nd half performance ive seen from a clare team in years. What a difference russell did in full. Mark rule really works for us aswell. Great heart both on and off the field. Final whistle was like winning a final. Super

Russell is still very important for us, there was no bit of direction to the forwards at all in the first half, he put a bit of shape on it when he went in there in the second half. First half was fair frustrating to watch with all the ball they wasted.

Lynch was showing very well but anytime he got the ball he was forty yards away from the goal, and you won`t run through any half-decent intercounty defence like he can do at club level.

I actually thought they were getting to grips with the game coming up to halftime but they gave a silly score away just before the break, then Wicklow left the Clare lads waiting for them out on the pitch for about five minutes and maybe that contributed to the slow start. Can`t remember the last time we scored as much from open play, and a lot of those scores came from distance, so that`s a positive.

I know from talking to a few of the lads they haven`t really done much of the heavy physical work, but there was definitely a few lads dragging their arses just before we got the goal.

Also I thought David Tubridy showed some good leadership, the run of scores he put together really put Wicklow on the back foot, and they were standing off the tackle cos they knew he could punish them from distance. It was notable  the way he was bursting himself to track back and cover when the game was still on the line. Couldn`t figure why Healy was the one they took off near the end though, he`s one of the fitter lads on the panel, and he did an amount of fetching and carrying, Dunning was lucky the few balls he kicked away didn`t get punished. McHale seemed to be fairly vocal on the line, Miko must be happy enough to delegate to him anyway, if it ain`t broken don`t try fixing it I suppose.

The two Kellys were good too, Graham got his usual yellow in the first half, but he was able to stay the right side of the ref, the Wicklow lads were fair p1ssed off with him by the end. Gordon drove out well at the end when they were coming under pressure. Cummins and Duggan had fair enough debuts too. Kilkenny next I think, we can hardly make a balls of that can we?

Great use of the of the mark for us
Ger Quinlan and Gary Brennan. Mark Tubridy was a rock at centre back, they Kelly`s and all the backs were very good all through. Very good performance over all, roll on Kilkenny next sunday, Joe Hayes is also worth a mention here ....

Hayes was saying after he didn`t know too much about the save in the second half, think it came off his skull

Ah he`s always solid that way in fairness to him. You wouldn`t horse him out from under it anyway

If more clinical could have had 3 goals in first half especially reidy first minute. Lala looked very tired towards the end after working his arse off. saw rory donnelly at the game is he out injured or what. have a full squad and could win div 4. Add Connole and coughlan to defence, donnelly to the attack a fitter russell in full and bit more fitness, we are as good as any team.

Its really encouraging to see mchale so up for it and players are really fighting for the cause.

Hopefully they lads can keep it going

Yes indeed, fair play to them. they wanted it more in the end, great 2nd half.

And without the KIB lads too.

KIB lads will make a big difference. The corner back is a decent yoke, Coughlan, Darren Hickey, etc. Great start, have to push forward now!
