My parents got this done at home about 3 months ago. The house was so much warmer even during the big freeze. Heating only has to stay on for 30-50% of the time that it used to before the job was done.
€1200 sounds a little expensive. Net cost for parents after grant was around €700.

Can`t say our heating bills are down yet, but the extension on our house was like an iceberg before we had the insulation done. Now it`s pleasantly cool at all times. For that alone, it was worth it.

We got a lad from Polypearl. I was away at the time but Mrs. LD said they were from Kerry. Huge difference in house temperature and the fire does need to be on for nearly as long.

I`m pumping in beads on a new build and these are the companies I`ve been dealing with. West Cork as well by the way.
MacHugh Insulation.
Premier Insulation.
Dungarvan Insulation (the best so far in terms of service and efficiency with getting back with a quote )
Connolly Insulation.
Surebond.
Not sure which I`m going with yet. Must see if I can beat them down a bit to be honest.
Best of luck

Are there carcinogens in the insulation material? If so, how the hell are you going to get it back out?

Educator, who did you go with and how did you get on?
At the moment thinking of getting the bonded beads in the cavity on an existing 3-bed semi. Wondering is it worth it? Anyone have it done?

As one who was slightly miffed with the lack of search facilities on here previously, I must say that it wasn't too Bad.
Apart from SLR and his addiction to historical topics, the resurrection of some of these topics is soul destroying.
2 years and two months later somebody wants a reference, would you not think times and technology has changed????

Why exactly is it soul destroying?
Would you rather I open a new thread and essentially ask the same questions?
Pumped cavity insulation hasn't changed that much 2 years on btw.

Why didn't you go with the local man? Or is he still not operating?

Lads, does anyone know anything about dry lining insulation? Is it recommended? How much would it cost to do a standard 3 bed semi say 1,400SqFt?

What about all this external insulation which seems to be all the rage these days? Is it really a long term solution?
Anyone have any experience of the results after it being done etc?

Hard to know with external, its unproven to the test of time I guess. However they do guarantees etc dont they? I suppose its cheaper for old houses than building another block wall on the outside and insulating the cavity.
