"It`s up to Conor O`Mahony, Shane McGrath, Seamus Callanan and the others who didn`t perform last weekend to show real leadership and prove they have the stomach for the battle now. If there are enough men in that dressing-room __ and after last Sunday, that`s something open to question __ Tipp can still be there as a major stumbling-block to the other powers in late July. "

Looks like Jamesie is still harbouring that `grudge` over the 1994 Munster Championship thrashing by Tipp

I`m sure his 2 all-irelands and laochra gael status has helped him get over it.
Jamesie is 100% right Yojimbo.

Clare beat tipp in 94 yojimbo. You referring to 93 perhaps. Id say he got over that in 97 anyway: ) and one of tipps greatest players john leahy makes the same point in the times today. Says he dont know if these tipp players have the character to come back.

He is 100% right, Tipp were gutless wonders last week, pushed around like Clare used to shove them out of the way in the 90`s, great to see hahaha

I`m not saying he`s not right, KB, but I seem to recall him frequently bringing up the `humiliating` defeat in 1993, which perhaps still rankles and provided the impetus for comments like this.
Whatever the reasons for last Sunday`s thrashing, its best resolved `in-house`

Well he was only a young fella in 1993, and he more than made up for it in later years.

Probably reminds a lot of Tipp fans of the wayTipp pushed Clare around for the 100 years prior to the 90s and the 10 years since GW.

Jamesie makes a valid point but in fairness, people in glass houses shouldn`t throw stones.
Jamesie was a nice hurler but I would seriously question his manliness.
He certainly wasn`t the bravest

get the fcuk out of here, Jamsie was far from windy and was very seldom pushed around for a man of his size

Jamesie played against Galway in 1999 with a broken arm FFS! Could only strike off one side
Come on as a sub when we looked in trouble and we got the draw out of it and won the replay.

Ya Jamesie was as tough as nails.
A great man under the drop ping ball when hurleys were flying.
Wasn`t a loose ball merchant at all

God turning into an assassination of Jaimsie thread now.
He is right our crowd need to step up to the plate, not so sure about McGrath, O`Mahoney, but I suppose they are pivotal positions, agree entirely with Callinan though, he seems to epitomise our problem, flitting in and out of games.
As for Jaimsie, great hurler, full stop

Oh my God? We have officially been invaded by clowns on this site! Fcuk me, but this has to be statement of the year thus far - sarcasm delivered in such a quaint manner!
Are you fcuking limited or something? Did they pull you out a second or two early?
Jayses, but i know Tipp lads who would hang their head in shame on reading this! Let alone people from other counties.
If you are trying to suggest that Jamesie O`Connor wasnt able for the rough stuff you must be out of your fcuking tree child. Only for the injury he suffered in `99 we could have beaten Cork that year. Jamesie was a legend, pure and simple, we have hurlers in Clare who browned it in games, but Jamesie certainly wasnt one! Stop being such a fcuking reject, his point in the `97 All-Ireland Final should have galvanised it into your head - The man is a hero!

if you read that article fully i find it hard to see where he ``questions tipp`s manliness``? in the article he may question their hunger and there preparation but he also firmly believes that they have not become a bad team overnight. he points out that o`mahony, mcgrath and callinan need to up there performance but he never questions there manliness! o`mahony and callinan do need to improve but i would`nt be slating mcgrath on his performance in cork, he worked hard up until he was replaced. i think jamesie was more pro tipp than anti tipp if anything in that article.

maybe it is 93 or maybe it is the fact that cork roughed tipp up and they simply disappeared.
lets face it tipp showed no spirit at all once cork put it up to them physically. tipp have been building leads for the last two years and then allowing teams to take over the game . the difference with cork was that they had no lead built and they couldnt dig in and claw their way back.
if tipp are a serious outfit they are at the very least going to have to beat wexford and then get past one of the losers of the provincial finals to at least reach the semi final to redeem their season and give them a platform to improve from.

Thought it was a good and fair article by Jamesie, he has asked questions of Tipp, that are right to be asked after their non show at Cork.
But he also rounded on some of Tipp`s over hysterical critics ,mostly within Tipp, by saying that anyone who thinks they are not still serious AI contenders are Morons, in other words , talking bulls**.
Tipp can have no complaints , about anything he has said in the article.

Look Jamesie was a class hurler, of that there is no doubt.
But he was a loose ball player.
That is no slight on Jamesie, just an indication of the type of player he was.
He couldn`t win the hard ball, but was a great finisher with the likes of Conor Clancy or Baker to throw it out to him.
Many teams had such a player eg Seanie McGrath, Mike Galligan, Michael Cleary etc
I have the gratest respect and admiration for the likes of Jamesie but he had a stinker in 95 and for most of the 97 final too.
And let`s remember that point he scored in 1997 was from the opposite wing in acres of space....

Callinan epitomises the problem with Tipp.
He`s a great man cycling down a hill with the wind at his back but don`t ask him to pull a game out of the fire for you. He just hasn`t the cajones or the stomach for it.
If Tipp are 10 points up they have a load of guys like him looking for the ball to sew it into their opponents but these same guys go into hiding when they are needed to chase a game.
Tipp lack leaders and bottle all over the field.

Maybe that Jacob lad from Wexford could show the Tipp lads a bit of "manliness" when they meet up in the qualifiers!

Just becaue the man was small does`nt equate to him not being "manly".
Nice nurlers can also be tough and just because he did`nt run around getting involved in incidents does`nt mean he was soft. Marked many a bigger opponent and never shirked the battle.
Also may have looked for "loose ball" but at 5`9/5`10, it makes more sense to win breaks than primary possession. Paul Galvin has built a reputation on winning "Dirty Ball".
