We have heard endless complaints about the timing of the Munster hurling final replay. My opinion is we need more such games at that time. The viewing figures for the replay were up 25% on the first game. We keep hearing about only 22,000 at the game but how about the 500,000 people watching on TV?

Every pub in the country had hurling on tv @ 9 on a saturday night. 10,000s of more people saw a game that they would not have seen if it was 3.30 on the sunday.

Most sporting organisations fix games to maximise TV figures, why not the Gaa?

A good point and one we should keep in mind when we talk about reducing the number of televised games. IMO the GAA is better promoted through TV than getting a few more thousand through the turnstiles. The games this weekend are going to be very well attended despite TV coverage so when we offer the public big games they will go to them.
