I think Kilkenny will win by about 5 or 6 points.I fancy Kilkenny to exploit the weaknesses in Tipps full back line and go for goals early on like they did against Cork with the hope of having the game wrapped up early as if it is close in the last 10 minutes nerves will set in and Tipp could hit them with a Seamus Darby moment. The teams are evenly matched across the field apart from Tipps full back/KK full forward line where in my opinion Kilkenny have a big advantage as Tipps full back line has looked dodgy all year and I wouldnt pass too much remarks on the last game as it was John Mullane versus the Tipp full back line and Tipp got the better of Waterford there but alot of that was due to John Mullane being so isolated.Kilkennys full back line is alot stronger than last year and in order for Tipp to win I feel they will have to score goals and prevent Kilkenny scoring any which I dont see happening.

Yes how dare I predict kilkenny are going to win the AI because absoulutely nobody else apart from myself beleives they will win.I am clearly in love with Kilkenny and have no basis formy prediction and i am clearly incredibly biased towards Kilkenny just like the many other who have tipped them to win like Paul Flynn and Pete Finnerty on the Sunday Game

ara we may as well stay at home with all the attention to the kilkenny camp you`d forget tipp were in it however if tipp get off to a good start and concede no goals then its game on think people are underestimating the tipp back line they held out well against the kilkenny forwards for 60-62 minutes last year with the tipp lads showing progress against waterford i give tipp by 2 points

Jeesus I can`t wait for this. I haven`t been to an All Ireland Final since the Cats beat us in 2002. If the game is half as good as last years, then we`ll all be happy enough coming away (the neutrals anyway ) .
Its hard to know what way it will go. Everyone was saying the Cats would win by 8 or 9 points last year but we ended up with a classic.
It seems to me that Tipp have improved in every game and could peak on Sunday. They seem to be a lot more settled than earlier in the campaign and it all seems to be falling into place for them. They have no sideshows going on with injuries etc and from what I can make out, they`re just fully focused on this game.
Talk of 5 in a row was bound to be rife in Kilkenny - but that seems to have been replaced with this inury crises they seem to have. Hard to know if it`s all smoke and mirrors but I will say that from my experience, it does nothing to help a team to have all this talk of injuries going into a big game. Either its all a smoke-screen (wouldn`t surprise me ) or there are a fair few genuine concerns down there. Either way, Tipp have to see past it and remind themselves that they were as good as the best Kilkenny had to offer in last years final.
Call this one? I`ve been wrong all summer. Just hoping the game is even half as good as last years. Will be an honour to be on the hill and watch history being made, whoever wins it.

I don`t think Kilkenny were at their best in last year`s final or anything near it. Only Tommy Walsh (as always ) and PJ Ryan (improbably ) performed to the optimum level. We stuttered past Galway, Dublin and Waterford on the way to last year`s final.
This year the form has been back to near 2008 levels - however the big drawbacks are the injury to Brian Hogan and the question marks over Shefflin and Tennyson. I`d be amazed if either of them last 70 minutes.
Hurling`s a funny game though, Kilkenny could play better than last year and Tipp mightn`t be half as good, but it could be a reverse of last year`s results.
Kilkenny by 6 points (1 goal and 3 points )

It pains me to say it, but I don`t see the result being any different to last year, with about the same between the teams.
The one chance Tipp have is to get the goale which eluded them lasrt year and not concede any. The free takers for both sides will be crucial as will the start the teams get. RTipp need to hit the ground running.

Kilkenny by 6 points (1 goal and 3 points )
The point I was making is that that was a full strength Kilkenny last year. The fact that they didn`t dictate things the way they normally do is down more to Tipp and the way they played as it is to Kilkenny not being at the same level as 2008.

Noel Hickey was out last year, and JJ Delaney played FB. That made a huge difference to the defence, one which has been rectified this year - KK have only conceded one goal last year as opposed to , I think, 6 last year in the run up to the final. JJ may be one of the greatest wing backs of all, but he`s only barely average as a FB. Hickeys return has stabilised the full-back line and freed up the half backs, and the result is that KK have been playing a lot better this year than last. Even allowing for the injury sideshow and the potential loss of Shefflin, I still think they`ll win, by about 4-6 points, purely based on the scoring power they have across the midfield and forwards.

Totally forgot about Hickey missing. Still though Tipp never capitalised on the 3 goal chances, so the return from him being missing was negligable.

But the same forwards were there . They put up a fairly respectable 2-22 as well.

and it is going to be very difficult to limit the Kilkenny to less than that score and Tipps full back line has looked dicey all year while KK` have improved since last year and that is where KK will win the game as their forward shouldtake advantage of the Tipp full back line and Kilkennys full back line has tightened up

True, but his absense destabilised the defence and while Tipp didn`t take advantage they create d chaos in the KK FB line, only for PJ Ryan having the game of a lifetime they would`ve done the job. Hickey being back is absolutely crucial in that he binds the FB line and of course also frees up JJ to go back to the wing, which is his natural home an dfrom where he has the potential to have a huge bearing on the game. Both lines are strengthened hugely by Hickey being fully fit - it is difficult to see the Tipp forwards being afforded the same amount of ball and space this year as last.
