Here in Cork we had ...
the Siamsa Cois Laoi in the mid 80s..John Denver and other stars came to play in the Pairc
Then we had the Lark by the lee in the early 90s out the straight road remember being at a few of thoses..
Also remember a few Beat on the streets in Cork around 88/89 with Electric Eddie - remember him?? on the site of the Garda Station..
ah innocent happy days ...anyone else any memories of local festivals no longer around when money was scarce and a flaggin was your only man for the night!

The Kilkenny Beer Festival, must have been late `60s. Big beer tent, oompah music by a Bavarian band, lederhosen etc. - good beery fun.

Sorry Sunny South but the Feile will forever belong to Thurles. Was at them all, including Cork in 95 and while I agree that the line up was exceptional the distance from the camp site to the city and the stadium ruined it. Thurles was perfection for five years.

Macroom Mountain Dew Festival in the late 70`s, early 80`s - must have had 3-5 good years. Rory used to headline it..
Anyone remember year the Cimarons played there - Reggae in West Cork - memories..........
Another year Joe O`Donnell, the electric fiddle player was playing. There was a bird in the crowd from Mullingar, completely out of her head on some foreign substance. She started crying when he came on cos she was expecting Joe Dolan!

Yeah was just coming of age when it was cancelled! Was devastated...Munich was not as accessible back in the day. Auf Wiedersehen Pet was still a few years in the dim and distant future.
Still it was a good move in hindsight except for the rest of the proud hurling counties and great servants denied their Golden Septembers.

Now that is going back some years. Jaysus, you`d want a separate insurance policy to go there. It was great crack though back in the day when there were no Gardai on the roads.
Remember all the great festivals in Cork. Was anyone else there on the day U2 played at the Lark by the Lee?

Saw them all as well. Happy days indeed. I remember there being something on both Saturday and Sunday one year. I think it was U2 on Saturday and Siamsa on Sunday.
Don McLean played once and when he came out for an encore some lad had climbed on the outside of the stage and proceeded to moon the crowd. The punters went wild and the bould Don thought it was him until he looked up and saw the lad. He went off in a huff the bollix.
