Dublin’s Eoghan O’Gara and Eamonn Fennell have confirmed they will take part in the MBNA Kick Fada final this Saturday in Bray. The pair will join Dub’s marksman Bernard Brogan and a host of intercounty stars all aiming for All Ireland success at the hotly contested competition.
The 2009 champion, Brian Sheridan from Meath, will return to the MBNA Kick Fada to defend his title looking to improve on his winning kick of 71m. Four time winner and world record holder, Mark Herbert from Kildare, will attempt to capture his 5th title and better his world record kick of 73m.
Uachtaráin Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Christy Cooney, will oversee the 11th annual MBNA Kick Fada final and none other than Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh will lend his familiar voice to the event.
In the senior ladies competition, defending champion Suzanne Hughes from Dublin will defend her title against a strong field including former winners Irene Munnelly, Grainne Nulty and Mary Sheridan, all from Meath.
Will Curley, President, MBNA Ireland, said:
“Our long standing association with Gaelic Games is one that we’re extremely proud of. I would like to encourage as many people to get down to Bray Emmets to catch a glimpse of the countries top footballers in what is a fantastic public spectacle.”
Over 20 inter-county stars will compete for the prestigious crown of 2010 All Ireland MBNA Kick Fada Champion in the men’s and women’s categories.
