Limerick`s fortunes could be about to change if this story is true. I`ve always thought O`Grady could do a good job for Waterford and the same stands for Limerick. He wont take any guff from the players. Good to see the Limerick situation being resolved

Looks like it is true alright , as I have said on another thread the Irish Examiner has it as their main sports story tommorow.
Once he showed an interest , it was a no brainer for Limierick , he had to get the job.
He has a god track record of winning and dealing with players who have been on strike , if he can get nothing out of Limerick , then it just is not there.

There was a lot of positivity on the Justin McCarthy thread when he was appointed as well lads. Just wait and see is all i`m saying.

Sure of course we have to wait and see but nothing wrong with feeling positive about an appointment. I was happy with Justins appointment too but it didn`t work so then i changed my mind and wanted him out. The worst thing is fellas sticking by their man because they backed him first day and can`t see any wrong in case they lose face.

If O`Grady is appointed, will the best hurlers make themselves available for select ion, or will there be any issues preventing this?
Will they be happy with the 3 select ors as well?
O`Grady did well with Cork, but they did win the All-Ireland again after he left, so he undoubtably had some great players at the time.
It seemed from reading Limerick threads over the year, that people felt a Limerick manager was the way forward for them.
Should be interesting, hopefully it`ll be a competitive Munster championship next year.
And it`ll be some battle between Clare and Limerick to get out of Division 2.

I knew at 8 tonight that O`Grady was manager. Carey, Tj and Pat Heffernan are select ors. Word is that Ger Cunningham of Cork is being lined up by O`Grady to be the team trainer.
I can assure you the players (both 09 and 10 ) are delighted with the appointment. In fact, the appointmentS. Because the backroom team is what makes the package so impressive. Thelads will adore TJ and Ciaran, and Beefy and Donal will command the respect. Cunningham is credited as being a top class coach in Cork but for his differences with frank.
I desperately want to get excited but i refuse to. And i plead with all Limk fans to be the same. Be patient now. Expect nothing. Let this management team at it.
All i will allow myself to say is i feel this is a really good appointment. The raw materials are there to be worked with and i wish al involved the very best of luck.
Come on Limerick! Restore some pride!

Other managers with good reputations and proven track records of winning have taken the Limerick job before, and after a while were all deemed not up to job
I think ye need to be cautious about getting too excited

My feelings too - that appears to be a good, stable management team in place with a combination of experience and passion for the job - delighted that Ciaran Carey is involved as he is the one man in Limerick Hurling that should command respect from everyone - however there`s a big job in getting the best players on the field and performing well - and I feel we`ll have a hell of a job getting out of D2 next year - esp. if the players go into games thinking that they don`t deserve to be there and are too good for that division - but anything is better than the nightmare we`ve had for the last 18 months...

I agree. There are few more astute observers of game than Ciaran who can spot a change at forty paces. The job for next year is to get out of Div 2 and to have a fair crack at championship. Crucial to the whole thing is to have the pick of all our players and to have the best select ed from that. In reality that is all that was ever wanted from Limerick hurling folk.
Good luck to all concerned. We now need to concentrate on getting the structures in place so that we have, in the coming years, players to put into the senior set-up of the future.

Interesting. O`Grady has a reputation for taking no Sh1t from players. Heard of one match during training where no one was allowed speak.
