Back in the summer of 2008 it was savage high at about 1.40, then it drop ped to about 89 cent and now it seems to have crept back up closer to 1.40.
Will it hold its own, or are we set for further increases?

i believe it is going to go higher than this. I feel i`m constantly at the pump at the moment. I am inclined to put in 50 euro which used to nearly fill it but know its only barely past half way.
Would they dip for green diesel if you drive a merc or BMW? twud nearly be worth buying one for the savings

1.8 petrol `05. It`s worth, imo, no more than €3,000. You could buy a `05 Diesel for 5k.

If you alternated between green diesel and regular diesel would you damage the engine. I`ve been driving 13 years and have never even seen anyone being checked for green diesel let alone gotten checked myslef.

No it wont damage your engine only the illegal stuff that they remove the dye from will as it contains an acid, but there is a responsibility on forecourt owner to not to allow a car to just drive in fill up with green diesel it isn`t legal and you will be fined if caught.
I have been checked on several occasions but custom and the coppers seem to know I but my diesel in bulk.
I expect Diesel to reach €1.50 during the summer

I remember being in the US a few years ago and diesel only cost $1.60 a gallon. Could be up to $3 a gallon now.
I was at the Heineken Cup final in 2008 and I saw it priced in Wales for 1.60 sterling.
Amazing the contrast

Diesel in the north is going for average of £1.39 which translates to €1.62 a litre. It may be high here but at least it`s not as high as it is up north.

I`m not trying to be smart, but I reckon you couldn`t give away a 1.8 petrol car these days. Try a trade in.

heard of couple of canny buyers who got great deals on 4 and 5 year old petrols from dealers who left them off for low money.point is if you are doing less than 14k a year a good condition 5 year old petrol will allow you 5 or 6 years very cheap driving at which point it is not worth a whole lot less than you are paying for them now

key word being ``MOST`` alot comes down from the north in unmarked tankers, tis a practise which is rife in clare and south galway, note how many service staions in clare which were once texaco, esso, topaz hav changed name to such and such service station eg.the texaco aross from flannan`s in ennis
fill your car with texaco and topaz for a month and watch the difference in consumption and power in the car
cheap fuel will block fuel lines, filters, pumps and catylstic converters, how many diesel cars fuel systems froze solid over xmas because of water in system
and if you must know ``irish magic`` i own an oil field not just a lowly esso shop
