It's Super Sunday in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship

It's Super Sunday in the Senior Hurling Championship, with a fantastic double-bill of Semi-Final action on offer at Páirc uí Chaoimh this weekend.

Who will make it through to the big day on October 7th? Which of the two clubs who have never been there before will experience their first County Senior Final? Which of the the two who have very recent experience of such days will return for another shot at the title? You'll find all the answers in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday!

Opening the day's programme at 3pm, we have the novel pairing of Ballymartle and Bishopstown, neither of whom have ever reached this stage of the Senior Hurling Championship before. We can therefore be certain that we'll have at least one first-time finalist this year!

Results so far

  • Round 1  Midleton 1-15 Bishopstown 1-13
  • Ballymartle 3-13 Blackrock 1-13
  • Round 2 Bishopstown 1-8 Glen Rovers 0-10
  • Round 4 Ballymartle 0-13 Courcey Rovers 0-10
  • Bishopstown 1-20 Douglas 1-14
  • Quarter-Finals Ballymartle 1-17 Na Piarsaigh 0-17
  • Bishopstown 1-11 Midleton 0-11

Following this, we have the meeting of 2010 Champions, Sars, and 2011 beaten finalists, CIT, at 4.45pm. Both teams come into the semi-finals on the back of impressive campaigns so far, and this game promises to be a real clash of the Titans!

Results so far

  • Round 1  Sars 1-18 Cloyne 1-10
  • Round 4 Sars 4-13 Blackrock 0-6
  • CIT 1-26 St Finbarr's 1-12
  • Quarter-Finals  Sars 2-20 Carrigtwohill 2-10
  • CIT 2-14 Erin's Own 1-13

There will be a host of inter-county talent on view in both games, including Pa Cronin, Shane O'Neill, Lorcán McLoughlin and Conor O'Sullivan, along with rising stars Darren McCarthy, Daniel Kearney and many more. And let's not forget those who are better known for football - Aidan Walsh and Ciarán Sheehan, whose late goal propelled CIT through to the semi-finals, will both line out for the college side.

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than enjoying top quality hurling at the home of Cork GAA?? And with admission FREE for U16s, it's the ideal family day out. Adult entry is €15, with OAPs and students €10.

Nothing beats being there!
