“I can’t return until I have the investors absolutely secured,” he said. He also indicated he was willing to go to prison for “one month, two months, three months”, though he added that he did not see why he should.
“I wouldn’t see any reason why I would have to go to prison and the one thing I want to make clear is that I am not going to be a scapegoat for others,” he said.
“I am not going to be used as an example of what was recognised as an acceptable form and practice of business by bankers, lawyers, accountants and auctioneers. I am not going to be the poster boy who ends up in prison to my cost alone.”
Isn`t he a grand chap all the same, seen that he is willing to go to prison for a month or so, no doubt an open prison of his own choosing.
And he is dead right, real prison is for the little people. Bankers, lawyers, accountants and auctioneers should never have to worry about the consequences of their actions, because us the tax payers will always be there to pick up the pieces for them.

While it does anger me, we have to accept as well that the structures and regulations that have been in place in Irish Business have caused this whole mess not the dishonesty of a couple of loose cannons.

I`m not saying Michael Lynn caused a global recession. But the facts are that at least 3 families have lost their homes because of him. They thought the mortgage papers were done and dusted. But Lynn never processed them. This guy deserves at least 5 years hard labour. Not the 1 month he was talking about. He said in the article that he will meet fraud squad whenever they choose. This is complete BS. Lynn has lost the plot and is not dealing with reality IMHO....

I heard a bit of the taped interview with him broadcast on Marian Finucane show yesterday on Radion One.
Eugene McGeee, correctly, tore into him.
The guy is just jumping on the `big bad banks` bandwagon.
And then talking about how supportive his wife is.
The same wife who claimed complete ignorance of all the things she co-signed

not forgetting the two barristers that are resisting repayment of excess fees paid them following clerical error.
If it was one of the `little people` that were beneficiaries of such errors they`d not only be forced to repay them, but also charged interest.
